The Rolex Sea-Dweller ref. 16600 takes diving watches one step further by increasing its waterproofness up to 4,000 feet. This resistance is achieved by including a valve that allows the helium particles that build up within the case during deep saturation dives to slowly escape as the diver returns to the surface. This process prevents the crystal from popping off of the case and allows the Sea-Dweller to maintain a watertight seal. The case is also equipped with a dial set with a highly visible luminous display as well as a unidirectional 60-minute time-lapse bezel. Brushed steel offers a resilient finish and is used throughout the case, Oyster bracelet, and Oysterlock clasp.
