  • Why we love it

Corum's own owner is the named inventor of the Trapeze. Severin Wunderman, who took control of the house in January 2000, is named on its US design patent, filed in July 2001 and granted in August 2002. This Corum Trapeze ref. 106.404.47/0008 PM52 is that protected design, in steel and made for a woman's wrist.

Corum named the watch for its form, a trapezoid case that wears with the ease of a piece of jewellery. Its pink mother-of-pearl dial is cut from a natural material, so the play of colour as the wrist turns belongs to this piece alone.

The design carries real pedigree. WWD credits Wunderman with building Gucci's watch business in the 1980s and then engineering Corum's turnaround. Corum's official history lists the Trapeze among its new styles for 2001; it followed the Bubble, launched as he arrived in 2000. Today the model sits outside the house's current Admiral, Golden Bridge and Heritage collections.

Graded Excellent, this is a Trapeze to wear and to keep: a shape whose patent names the owner of the house as its inventor, rendered in pink mother-of-pearl and steel, and a design from Corum's Wunderman years on the wrist.

    Ownership & Provenance

Every timepiece offered by Luxepolis, including this Corum Trapeze ref. 106.404.47/0008 PM52, undergoes a rigorous ownership and provenance review before being presented for sale. We verify the seller's identity, review the available ownership information and seek to establish lawful and traceable ownership wherever reasonably possible.

Seller transactions are conducted through registered banking channels and are supported by executed agreements, PAN verification, government-issued identification and ownership declarations. Reference and serial details are examined where available, alongside the watch's authentication.

As an additional safeguard, Luxepolis screens watches against recognised independent stolen-watch registers and recovery databases. Where available and appropriate, checks may also be conducted through manufacturer-operated stolen-watch or ownership-verification programmes. Since no single global register records every luxury watch, database screening forms one important part of Luxepolis' broader ownership-verification process.

    Innovations in Craft & Horology

Corum is synonymous with horological creativity—from coin‑embedded ultra‑thin mechanisms to floating baguette calibres in sapphire cases, and Tudor‑style maritime complications. The Admiral’s Cup Tides was one of the first watches to track tidal strength via a proprietary movement. The Bubble line revived with playful, oversized dials under Wunderman. Corum continues its bold DNA under renewed Swiss stewardship.

Vogue India: “Corum merges marine legacy with high‑watchmaking bravado.”

HODINKEE: “The Golden Bridge’s linear movement remains a marvel of transparency and structure.”
