A jury chaired by Philippe Dufour named Piaget's revived Emperador Watch of the Year 2000, by one vote. This rose gold date model carries that lineage with Piaget's own automatic movement, found only in the Emperador Date, and is graded Excellent.

Why we love it
In 2000 the Montres Passion jury, chaired by master watchmaker Philippe Dufour, named the revived Emperador its Watch of the Year, by a single vote over Chopard's LUC Quattro. This rose gold rectangle carries that line forward as the Piaget Emperador ref. G0A32121.
Piaget first launched the Emperador in 1957 and revived it in 1999, and the reference's applied coat of arms at twelve is a deliberate nod to that original best-seller. Beneath its silvered sunray dial runs an in-house self-winding movement just 3.5 mm thin and found only in the Emperador Date. Piaget is one of the few houses that designs, develops and builds its own calibres.
The line's high-watchmaking credentials run deep. Its in-house tourbillon calibre took three years to realise, and in November 2023 Phillips in Hong Kong sold a pink gold Emperador Tourbillon for HK$228,600, well above its HK$95,000–150,000 estimate. The Emperador no longer appears as a standalone collection in Piaget's current range.
Graded Excellent, this Emperador unites a name launched in 1957, a line honoured by Dufour's jury and Piaget's own automatic movement, signed with the house arms at twelve. It is a closed chapter of Emperador history, to wear daily and to keep.
