Tissot made this watch for one occasion: its own 150th anniversary, when it launched the Heritage 150 edition on 1 July 2003. The Tissot Heritage 150th Anniversary ref. T66.1.711.31 recreates a December 1946 model that Tissot counts among its most prestigious, and the steel three-hand is numbered in a series of 8,888.
Behind the period lines sits an officially certified chronometer movement, so its precision matches its heritage. Through the engraved back, the gilt rotor bears 1853, the year Tissot was founded in Le Locle, and 2003: the anniversary written into the mechanism itself.
The auction record follows the edition. Antiquorum sold a steel three-hand example, no. 1725/8888, in Geneva in November 2014 for CHF 1,125, above its CHF 700–900 estimate. Dorotheum sold the sister chronograph in Vienna in 2022 for EUR 2,048, also above estimate. The chronograph of the same edition is the watch Jean Dujardin wears on screen in OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies.
Graded Excellent and complete with its original Tissot box, this is a numbered chapter of Tissot's 150th year: a 1946 profile, the founding date carried on its rotor, and a watch to wear every day and keep for good.
